The activity of the linen factory, which is the most well-known company from Żyrardów, ended with a lengthy bankruptcy trial. The negative effects on the local job market connected with it were limited due to introduction of new enterprises, Polish and foreign, creating new vacancies. A major part of inhabitants has taken their own business activity. On premises of the former Żyrardów Factory, the bankruptcy estate managed by the assignee, more and more investors appeared and today all former factory buildings have their new owners.
At present the Town's economic structure consists of:

Currently 9 companies with foreign capital operate in Żyrardów
TCL Operations Polska Sp. z o. o. www.tcl.com (up to July 2004 - Thomson Multimedia Polska Sp. z o.o. www.thomson.net, later TTE Polska Sp. z o.o.) produces television sets and is the major employer in town. Nearby there is a production plant of Knauf Plastics Sp. z o.o. www.knauf-pack.pl, manufacturing specialist containers. Rukki Polska Sp. z o.o. www.ruukki.com/pl (up to January 2005 Rautaruukki Polska Sp. z o.o.), representative of Finnish metallurgical concern is the producer of roofing (the former Asva Stal Serwis Sp. z o.o. is part of its structure). Stabar Sp. z o.o. j.v. company www.stabar.com.pl specializes in steel constructions, which are exported to Germany. Arlen SA company www.arlen.com.pl sews protective clothing and uniforms. Belgian company Girard Dupont Sp. z o.o. specializes in women's wear. Privatized Polmos Żyrardów Sp. z o.o. www.belvedere-zyrardow.com.pl produces Belvedere vodka, known all over the world. Major chain networks are represented by: supermarket Kaufland, which belongs to Kaufland Polska Sp z o.o. and supermarket Carrefour, which belongs to Carrefour Polska Sp. z o.o. In town there are two main petrol stations of ExxonMobil Poland Sp. z o.o. company and a restaurant of McDonald's Polska Sp. z o.o.
Companies with foreign capital employ altogether about 1.5 thousand workers in Żyrardów.
